I remember as a teen watching and imitating the Undertaker to scare the daylights out of my cousins, brothers and little nephews.
There was always an eerie charm in being the Undertaker when we fought a WWE match at home as children.
Mom used to be upset – but who cared? Mom was important and so was enjoying a treasured few hours being recognized as Taker by your cronies.
Undertaker Was a God of Wrestling
And, so were many other top performers who we used to copy and use their signature moves on one another.
For instance, my brother was a big-time Randy Orton fan. In all honesty, he has pulled off so many RK0s on me that I once almost broke my neck.
Anyway, that’s our childhood with sweet, lovely memories of beating the shit out of each other!
As I grew older into my late teens, the Undertaker inched close to his retirement.
Every year at WrestleMania, there would be a sense of fidgeting and anxiety whether Taker would show up or not. I remember when he showed up bald and old-looking in 2012 against Triple H.
I was still so happy and stoked that he had finally turned up that in the run-up to Wrestle Mania 28, I sometimes stayed up all night in anticipation of the WrestleMania match “The End of An Era”.
It was something, wasn’t it? The feel was out of this world. Thank you Taker, Shawn Michaels and Triple H for those awesome moments!
It Was Miami, Right?
Remember the gorgeous sunset colors of the Miami skyline and how the WrestleMania show continued into the night? And, how Undertaker won and made history with millions of people witnessing from around the world.
Among those millions, one was me, Zyad Haka. Watching from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During that match, my mom urged me again and again (as she massaged my head with coconut oil) not to watch this horror show. (She found Undertaker grotesque, LOL). I told her that he has got a beautiful wife, Michelle McCool – and that he too lived a normal life.
“Who would marry this kohl-eyed ogre?” Mom never believed me, of course.
Anyhow, that’s history!
Recently Undertaker Came Into the Limelight
When his short message featuring President Donald Trump and his WWE half-brother, Kane, went viral on TikTok, it suddenly threw me into a rabbit hole of nostalgia.
This was when everything that I’ve always loved about this WWE Godfather came rushing to my mind like a Tsunami of memories.
For me, the nostalgia about Taker is so strong that it’s hard to let go of it until you’ve spent like an hour or so just thinking about all of the Undertaker moves, his ghostly gimmick, and his grippingly haunting style!
Seeing my favorite superstar with my favorite US presidential candidate, Donald Trump, was a MAGICAL moment.
@realdonaldtrump TAKE YOUR PICK
Yes, I’m a Brown Muslim
Yes, I’m Pakistani. Yes, I love Trump.
Well, I’m not quite sure whether I’ll continue to admire him in the future or not, that depends on his policies. But so far, he’s been a man of great potential. I call him the Undertaker of American Politics.
I started loving and following Mr. Trump as a Pakistani when Trump invited our Prime Minister, Imran Khan back in 2019 to the White House and the two statesmen hit it off as if they were longtime old school buddies.
The discussion between them must have hovered over various topics including cricket and golf (as Khan was a world-class cricketer in the 90s).
Clearly, They Were Fond Of Each Other
Imran Khan must have been thoroughly impressed by Donald Trump’s straightforwardness. Mainly because he’s point-blank blunt himself. And, that’s what makes them both a threat to the hypocritical style of politics!
Trump’s reason for taking an instant liking to Khan might have been Khan’s playboy status in his young days. Or, more likely, Khan’s amazing grasp of world affairs with a Western mind due to his Oxford education or Bradford chancellorship.
Anyway, the final media talk featuring Trump and Imran Khan was really impressive!
PM Imran Khan stated his views on ending the war in Afghanistan and Trump agreed with him.
They also talked about sorting out the Kashmir issue which is a disputed region between India and Pakistan. Imran Khan insisted that the issue be resolved according to the UN resolutions of plebiscite in the region and Trump nodded.
Then Trump spoke out his heart, the way he always does, about how he was delighted to meet PM Khan and how he considered Pakistanis as a “smart and hard-working” nation.
This Was a Proud Moment For Me
And millions of other Pakistani people worldwide, of course.
Later, the Afghan war ended and it was the initiative of President Trump that was carried forward by the Biden Administration. Like it or not, Sleepy Joe was never capable of making such important decisions.
Also, Donald Trump later wished to meet Imran Khan, when Khan went to the United Nations for his famous speech that later became the most-watched speech of the 2019 UN session.
They met on the sidelines and it was another meaningful dialogue.
This was the beginning of a new relationship between the two countries. UNFORTUNATELY, Trump lost the election to Biden in 2020 and Imran Khan was ousted from power in Pakistan in 2022 subsequently.
Prime Minister Imran Khan Is In Jail
Today, PM Khan of Pakistan, is behind bars for believing in democracy. He’s serving solitary confinement. On the other hand, Donald Trump’s comeback and his run for the Presidency 2024 is a breath of fresh air.
He’s unpredictable, he’s unconventional and, above all he’s for the Greatness of America. That’s what I see as a Pakistani from miles and miles away.
I said unconventional. Yes. He challenges the status quo and nobody wants a change. Change is scary.
On the contrary, Biden, Kamala, Hilary, Obama – all honor the tradition. The tradition of duplicity, dishonesty and two-facedness. Dropping bombs on the Middle East and putting up a holy face!
Trump doesn’t do that.
He doesn’t believe in war – or double talk. Being a business magnate, he believes in dialogue. In negotiation. That’s a weakness in a society that is corrupt to the core. The same shortcoming Imran Khan of Pakistan suffered from. He was honest. He challenged the status quo!
He Spoke From His Heart
And wanted to radically change the country for a fortunate future. The fossilized minds couldn’t handle that and threw him behind bars on ridiculously false charges.
To sum up, I see Trump as a beacon of hope. He’s a great man. A man who stands by his words; Who thinks for his country, no matter the amount of hurtful backlash his patriotic stance brings to him.
So, Mark William Callaway, aka The Undertaker, knowing that you’d be putting your name and fame on the line, you still did what was right. That’s admirable. From my childhood WWE star, you’ve now turned into a much bigger inspiration.
You’ve once again proven to have the heart of a lion by openly endorsing and coming out for the best choice for the Nov 5, 2024 elections. That is Donald J. Trump.
